Din 1974 până astăzi, deci mai bine de 40 de ani, am pus în scenă Scrisoarea … de 6 ori, de fiecare dată am găsit în text lucruri care-mi scăpaseră, relaţii noi, nuanţe diferite faţă de cele din spectacolele anterioare, dar mai ales situaţii mereu compatibile cu realităţile contemporane. Geniul lui Caragiale a surprins şi imortalizat tipologii comportamentale şi trăsături esenţiale ale celor care trăiesc în acest spaţiu geografic, ci şi obsesiile vremii lui care s-au perpetuat vreme de 130 de ani şi care, sunt convins că vor exista şi peste 130 de ani de aici în colo.

Iată de ce acest spectacol se petrece în anul în care citiţi aceste rânduri, an în care, ca şi în 1884, problemele noastre sunt revizuirea Constituţiei, corupţia, Europa „cu ochii aţintiţi asupra noastră” şi mai ales „eu cu cine votez”.
